How to Add and Delete Topics for FAQs
Read time: 4 minutes
Adding a New Topic
- Access the FAQs Section:
- From your WordPress Dashboard, locate the “FAQs” option in the left-hand menu.
- Hover over “FAQs” and click on Topics.
- Add a New Topic:
- On the Topics page, youโll see a section labeled Add New Topic on the left-hand side.
- Fill in the Name field with the topic name you wish to add. This is how it will appear on your site.
- (Optional) Enter a Slug. The slug is the URL-friendly version of the name and is usually all lowercase, containing only letters, numbers, and hyphens. If you donโt add a slug, WordPress will generate one automatically based on the name.
- (Optional) If this topic is a subcategory, you can assign a Parent Topic by selecting one from the dropdown menu.
- (Optional) Add a Description for the topic if needed. Note that the description may not always be visible on the site, depending on your theme.
- Click the Add New Topic button to save your new topic.
Deleting an Existing Topic
- Access the Topics List:
- On the same Topics page, you will see a list of existing topics on the right side.
- Delete a Topic:
- Hover over the topic you wish to delete, and click on the Delete link that appears under the topic name.
- Alternatively, you can select multiple topics using the checkboxes next to each topic and then choose Delete from the Bulk Actions dropdown at the top. Click Apply to delete the selected topics.
Note
Deleting a topic does not delete the FAQs associated with it; they will become uncategorised if no other topic is assigned to them.
By following these steps, you can easily manage the topics for your FAQs, adding new ones as your site grows and removing any that are no longer needed.
