Changing your password regularly is an essential security practice to keep your WordPress account secure. Here’s how you can update your password:
Steps to Change Your Password
- Log In to WordPress:
- Begin by logging into your WordPress dashboard using your current username and password.
- Access Your Profile:
- Once logged in, locate the Admin Bar at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Hover over your username or profile picture, and from the dropdown menu, click on
Profile
. Alternatively, you can navigate to the left-hand menu and click onUsers
>Profile
.
- Scroll Down to the Account Management Section:
- In the Profile page, scroll down until you find the
Account Management
section.
- In the Profile page, scroll down until you find the
- Generate a New Password:
- Under the
New Password
heading, click theGenerate Password
button. WordPress will automatically create a strong password for you.
- Under the
- Enter Your New Password:
- If you prefer to set your own password, you can replace the automatically generated password by typing your new password in the field.
- Make sure to choose a strong password that includes a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Confirm Your New Password:
- After entering your new password, you may see a confirmation box that says “Confirm use of weak password” if your password is not considered strong. Make sure your password is strong to avoid this step.
- Update Profile:
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the
Update Profile
button to save your changes.

- After updating your profile, WordPress will save your new password. You can now log in using this new password the next time you access your site.
