How to Resize an Image in WordPress
Resizing images in WordPress is essential for optimizing your website’s performance and ensuring that images display correctly across different devices. This guide will walk you through the steps to resize an image using WordPress’s built-in tools.

- Open your web browser and navigate to your WordPress login page (usually

- Access the Media Library:
- In the left-hand sidebar of the WordPress dashboard, hover over “Media” and click on “Library.”
- Select an Image to Edit:
- In the Media Library, find the image you want to resize.
- Click on the image to open its attachment details.
- Edit Image:
- In the attachment details window, click the “Edit Image” button located below the image preview.
- Resize the Image:
- In the Image Editor, you will see options to scale the image.
- Locate the “Scale Image” section on the right side of the editor.
- Enter the new dimensions for your image in the “New Dimensions” fields. You can enter either the width or the height, and the other dimension will adjust proportionally to maintain the aspect ratio.
- Click the “Scale” button to apply the new dimensions.
- Crop the Image (Optional):
- If you need to crop the image, click and drag to select the area you want to keep.
- You can adjust the selection box by dragging the corners or sides.
- Once you have the desired selection, click the “Crop” button above the image.
- Save Your Changes:
- After resizing (and optionally cropping) your image, click the “Save” button to apply the changes.
- The resized image will be saved and replace the original image in the Media Library.

- If you need to revert to the original image, go back to the image’s attachment details in the Media Library.
