The Blockquote block in WordPress is perfect for highlighting quotes or important statements in your content. Hereβs how to add and customise a Blockquote block on your WordPress site.
Adding a Blockquote Block
- Navigate to the Blockquote Section:
- Start by logging into your WordPress dashboard.
- From the sidebar menu, select the appropriate post or page where you want to add the blockquote.
- Add a New Blockquote:
- Within the post or page editor, click on the
+
icon to add a new block. - Search for “Blockquote” and select it from the available block types.

Customising the Blockquote
- Content Tab:
- Subheading: You can add an optional subheading that appears above the quote text. This can provide context or a brief introduction to the quote.
- Text: Enter the quote text in the provided field.
- Cite: Add the name or details of the person or source to whom the quote is attributed. This will appear below the quote.
- Settings Tab:
- Section ID: This option allows you to add an ID to the block, which is useful for one-page websites with smooth scrolling links.
- Remove Bottom Margin: Toggle this option if you want to remove the default margin at the bottom of the block. This setting makes the block sit flush with the block below it.

- Subheading: Inspirational Quote
- Text: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
- Cite: Steve Jobs
With these settings, your blockquote will stand out on the page, drawing attention to important quotes or statements.
