The Blockquote block in WordPress is perfect for highlighting quotes or important statements in your content. Here’s how to add and customise a Blockquote block on your WordPress site.

Adding a Blockquote Block

  1. Navigate to the Blockquote Section:
    • Start by logging into your WordPress dashboard.
    • From the sidebar menu, select the appropriate post or page where you want to add the blockquote.
  2. Add a New Blockquote:
    • Within the post or page editor, click on the + icon to add a new block.
    • Search for “Blockquote” and select it from the available block types.

Customising the Blockquote

  1. Content Tab:
    • Subheading: You can add an optional subheading that appears above the quote text. This can provide context or a brief introduction to the quote.
    • Text: Enter the quote text in the provided field.
    • Cite: Add the name or details of the person or source to whom the quote is attributed. This will appear below the quote.
  2. Settings Tab:
    • Section ID: This option allows you to add an ID to the block, which is useful for one-page websites with smooth scrolling links.
    • Remove Bottom Margin: Toggle this option if you want to remove the default margin at the bottom of the block. This setting makes the block sit flush with the block below it.

Example Configuration

  • Subheading: Inspirational Quote
  • Text: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
  • Cite: Steve Jobs

With these settings, your blockquote will stand out on the page, drawing attention to important quotes or statements.

By following these steps and tips, you can effectively use blockquotes to enhance your WordPress content, making it more engaging and visually appealing.
